This scholarship program was created in the memory of Wally C. Ohlfs, founding manager of Red Canoe Credit Union.
Each year, Red Canoe Credit Union awards $28,000 in scholarships to members who excel academically and contribute to their community.
About our Scholarships
We offer two types of scholarships: six $4,000 scholarships for undergraduates in memory of Wally C. Ohlfs, our founding manager, and one $4,000 scholarship for graduate students, honoring Brenda Godfrey and Jack Elms from Cowlitz Credit Union, which merged with Red Canoe in 2014.
Scholarship Eligibility

The Wally Ohlfs scholarship program is for members that are entering or attending college or vocational school. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a primary member of the credit union (have an account in your name listed first)
- Have a cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Plan to attend an accredited college or vocational school full time (12+ hours) for the upcoming academic year
- Not be employed by Red Canoe Credit Union or serving on the Board of Directors

The Godfrey/Elms scholarship program is for members who are entering or attending graduate school. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a primary member of the credit union
- Have a cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Plan to enroll in an accredited graduate degree program full time (12+ hours) for the upcoming academic year
- Not be employed by Red Canoe Credit Union or serving on the Board of Directors

Scholarship FAQs

Our scholarship applications are processed through Reviewr. If you encounter problems with your application, use the “request support” button in the upper right hand corner of the Reviewr webpage. Only Reviewr can provide technical support for issues you might encounter.

If you need to make a change to your scholarship application, log into your Reviewr account. Selection “submission” from the left-hand menu. From here, select the blue “Edit” button to make your changes! Changes can be made to your application up until March 31.

Winners will be selected no later than May 31. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified by email. You will not receive an email if you were not selected.

Yes! Previous winners are welcome to re-apply every year if they still meet the criteria for scholarship eligibility. Make sure to check the requirements before starting a new application.

Applications will be accepted from January 1-March 31 each year. -
All parts of the application must be submitted by March 31st for it to qualify.
